7 Things to Know About After 5

After 5 is the next big thing in Philippine rock music. The band must be new to your ears but their songs surely will give you the familiar shiver that only good music brings. For this reason, we should take the time to get to know the band. Here are some things we should know about After 5.

1. The band is composed of 5 awesome musicians. First, let’s get to know the ladies – Cheene Daria, the lead vocalist of the group and China Daria handles the back-up vocals and the acoustic guitar. Amazingly, these ladies juggle some other things on the side. Apart from their music Cheene is also a businesswoman, while China does modelling.

2. The other three members of After 5 are Alex Tecson on bass, Nins Sto. Nino on lead guitar, and Jonil Bautista on drums. Just like the two ladies, these guys also juggle other things aside from playing music. Alex is a professional bus driver, Nins is a civil engineer, and Jonil is a corporate sales executive. Way to go, guys!

3. Since the band members are busy with their individual careers, they usually meet up after work, which is at 5 pm, ergo, the band’s name – After 5.

 

4. These talented multi-tasking professionals want to inspire Filipinos with what they do. In an interview, Cheene said that the advocacy of their band is to inspire people and show that even if each of the band members have other jobs, they still find time to get together and jam for the purpose of producing good music.

5. They recently released their debut album entitled “OPM After 5”. The record includes 10 songs about love which people can easily relate to, so be sure to check this out. It is available in iTunes and Spotify.

6. In case you missed it: After 5 guested on the Roadshow and gave us a lovely performance of their track “Gusto Na Rin Kita”. This song is also nominated as the Wish Alternative Song of the Year. Give it a listen and enjoy as you will surely get a last song syndrome.

7. The band has also shown some intent of taking the international stage. They want to share their music to the world by doing some gigs abroad. One thing is clear after learning all these facts about After 5 – they deserve our genuine support in whatever they do. After all, this band is a proof of how original Filipino music is very much alive.
