One of the Filipino independent bands that have been getting a lot of attention lately is the Jensen & the Flips. They debuted as a band in November 2013, and since then, tons of gigs and live shows and heaps of avid listeners have warmly welcomed this seven-piece band. Before they further invade the OPM scene, let’s get to know them better through these few tidbits.
1. Who are Jensen & the Flips? The band is composed of these 7 talented individuals – Jensen Gomez on lead vocals and guitar, Lorenz Padilla on bass and back-up vocals, Miggy Concepcion on Keyboards, Michael Gemina on drums and back-up vocals, Sam Valenia on guitar and back-up vocals, Mel Roño on guitar, and Carlo Maraingan on percussion.
2. The name of the band came from their lead vocalist, Jensen Gomez, while FLIPS stands for Freaky Little Island People.
3. The band specializes in the genre Soul/Motown/R&B.
4. Jensen & the Flips had released various singles for the past years of their musical journey. Some of these are “Is This Love”, “Slow”, and “Used to Be”.
5. In July 2015, they released their first studio album, “Honeymoon”, which includes their hit singles “Lovechild” and “Borrowed”. Their album was produced by Yellow Room Music Philippines and digitally distributed by MCA Music.
6. The band also launched an official music video of “Dangerous”, the fourth single off their debut album.
7. In a special edition of Wish 107.5’s Wonderland with Wish jocks Princess Leigh and Alice, Jensen & the Flips exclusively performed “Lovechild”, with a mash-up of “Let’s Stay Together”, “Best of My Love”, and “Emotions”, while on-board the Wish 107.5 Bus.
