Maki Ricafort is former member of the Filipino pop and R&B band South Border. He took a leap of faith to pursue a solo career when he auditioned during the first season of the Voice of the Philippines. Many opportunities have opened for Maki since then. 1. Thirty six-year old Maki Ricafort is a former guitarist and back-up vocalist of South Border. South Border became popular in the country in the 2000s. Some of their hit singles are “Rainbow”, “Ikaw Nga”, and “Kahit Kailan”.
2. During his audition for the Voice, Maki sang Steve Perry’s “Foolish Heart” and impressed coach Sarah Geronimo.
3. Maki became part of the daytime karaoke singing and a spelling bee-style competition, The Singing Bee. Along with other Voice alumni, they were called the ‘Songbees’ and served as the main singers in the contest.
4. Maki also joined concerts and shows of big artists such as Gary Valenciano.
5. For an ABS-CBN teleserye, Maki did a cover of the hit song by Jireh Lim, “Magkabilang Mundo”.
6. Maki visited Wish 107.5 and did a guesting for the Roadshow on November 26, 2015, together with two other artists, Kyle Vincent and Chlara. Maki exclusively performed “Magkabilang Mundo” and a medley of “Forevermore”, “Before I Let You Go”, and “Kahit Kailan”.
7. Maki also served as an interpreter for the songwriting competition ASOP (A Song of Praise Music Festival) TV.
