Morissette is one of the fastest rising divas of today’s generation, and she is more than ready to take away the spotlight. She became well-known when she joined the first season of the Voice of the Philippines. But beyond this competition, let’s get to know more about Morissette’s journey to stardom. 1. Morissette’s complete name is Johanne Morissette Amon. She was named after the international singer Alanis Morissette, who was very popular around the time Morissette was born.
Morissette was born on June 2, 1996. When she auditioned for the Voice, she was only 17 years old, but she managed to wow the judges by nailing Beyonce’s hit song “Love on Top”.
2. When she was 14, Morissette joined the reality television competition Talentadong Pinoy. She did not make it to the finals, but she was instead asked to audition for another talent search, also hosted by the same station, called Star Factor where she won 1st runner up.
3. Morissette played the role of Mitchie Flores in the Repertory Philippines Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical, which was staged at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Makati City from November 16 until December 16, 2012.
4. Until now, Morissette still practices theatre acting. Recently, she was chosen as one of the main casts in “Chuva Choo Choo – Mr. Kupido Musicale”, which features songs of OPM legend, Vehnee Saturno.
5. On July 14, 2014, Morissette had the time of her life when international pop singer Jessie J asked her to join her on stage during her Manila Concert at the Big Dome to sing a duet of “Who You Are”.
6. In March 2015, Morissette released her self-titled debut album under Star Records. It includes the carrier single “Di Mapaliwanag”.
7. At her young age, Morissette has already received various awards and recognition. Recently, she was awarded the Best New Female Recording Artist during the 7th PMPC Star Awards for Music.
