With a soothing voice and a guitar, Sabrina stole the OPM spotlight when she came into scene in 2006. Since then, she became known as an acoustic icon, not just here in the Philippines, but as well as in other parts of Asia. Who is Sabrina behind this sweet, charming exterior? Let’s get to know through this list.
1. Hailing from the province of Laguna, Sabrina’s real name is Roli Alexandra Orial.
2. Prior to becoming known through her “I Love Acoustic” albums, in 2006, Sabrina released her self-titled debut album first.
3. But her unique and calming take on popular songs became Sabrina’s stepping stone towards fame and success. In 2007, she launched the first “I Love Acoustic” album which features her acoustic cover versions of various hit songs. This was followed by 7 more records with the same name and concept.
4. The latest of Sabrina’s series of album, “I Love Acoustic 8”, was released in 2015. It includes her beautiful acoustic versions of today’s hit songs such as “Thinking Out Loud”, “Lost Stars”, “Love Me Like You Do”, and many others.
5. Sabrina has been tagged as Asia’s Acoustic Sweetheart as her “I Love Acoustic” records gained popularity even in some parts of Asia, such as Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
6. In producing her albums, Sabrina got the opportunity to work with foreign musicians. In “I Love Acoustic 5”, she collaborated with Thai saxophonist Koh Mr. Saxman and Indonesian pop star Raisa. For the sixth “I Love Acoustic” record, she got to do a duet with fellow Southeast Asian artists King Pichet and Oil Kunijira.
7. Recently, Sabrina served as an interpreter in the song-writing competition, ASOP (A Song Of Praise Music Festival) TV. She interpreted “Mahal Mo Ako”, a composition of amateur praise songwriter, Maria Loida Estrada.
