7 Things to Know About Yeng Constantino
Yeng Constantino has been active in the Filipino music scene since 2006. From her “Hawak Kamay” years of popularity to the recent song sensation that is her hit single “Ikaw”, we kept an eye on Yeng’s journey as a treasured singer-songwriter. Let’s refresh our knowledge about Yeng through these 7 things to know about her.
1. Yeng began her OPM journey by joining the reality singing competition on TV, Pinoy Dream Academy. She emerged as the Grand Star Dreamer of the competition. Throughout her stint, she wrote and popularized many songs including “Hawak Kamay”.
2. After this victory, Yeng released her debut album, “Salamat”, under Star Records. Seven of the songs from the album are her original compositions.
3. This debut album of Yeng was followed by several other celebrated records. These are “Journey”, “Lapit”, “Yeng Versions Live”, “Metamorphosis”, and “All About Love”.
4. Yeng draws musical influences from the likes of Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Acel Bisa, Kitchie Nadal, and Barbie Almalbis.
5. On Feruary 14, 2015, Yeng married her long-time boyfriend, Yam Asuncion.
6. Apart from singing and writing relatable songs, Yeng also explored her talent in hosting. She recently co-hosted the season 2 of the Voice Kids Philippines, alongside Robi Domingo and Luis Manzano.
7. In a recent interview, Yeng reveals that she is brewing up something special for her upcoming 10th year anniversary in the music industry this 2016. Yeng says we should watch out for “Rak of Aegis”-like musical featuring the many songs she has written over the years.
In the upcoming Wish 107.5 Music Awards, Yeng has been nominated for three categories in honor of her exclusive guesting on the Roadshow. She is up for the Wish Female Artist of the Year award; while “Dito Ka Lang sa Aking Tabi” is nominated as Wish Original Song and “Ikaw” as Best WISHclusive Perfromance by a Female Artist.
