AS IT HAPPENS: 2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards

The long wait is over! The 2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards is finally happening tonight at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

12 noon — The one-month online voting for the 2nd WMA ends. These votes will comprise 50% of a nominee’s total score while the other half will come from the votes of a select panel of judges composed of prominent figures in the field.

2 p.m. — Guest performers rehearse for their special production numbers

6 p.m. — The social media conversation for tonight’s music revelry kicks off. The official hashtag is #2ndWishMusicAwards.

6:30 p.m. — Wishers and fans are now starting to come in droves at the Big Dome to witness a spectacular celebration of music and charity.

8 p.m. — #2ndWishMusicAwards climbs to the 2nd spot of the local trends list

8: 10 p.m. — The youngest of all boyband superstars — BoybandPH — opens the awards night with “Rude” and their debut single, “Unli.”

8: 15 p.m. — DJ Robin Nievera, Alex Diaz and Gretchen Ho welcome Wishers to the 2nd Wish 107.5 Music Awards

8:25 p.m. — The members of the select panel of judges for the 2nd WMA are revealed!

8:30 p.m. — YouTube sensation Sam Mangubat is hailed as this year’s Wish Promising Artist.

8:38 p.m. — “Maraming salamat Wish 107.5 for always giving us a platform,” Jason Dy shares as he receives the Best Wish Cover award for “Be My Lady.”

8:41 p.m. — Tawag ng Tanghalan grand finalists Maricel Callo, Marielle Montellano, Noven Belleza, Pauline Agupitan, Gidget Dela Llana and Eumee Capile perform a stirring medley of Adele’s biggest hits — “When We Were Young,” “All I Ask,” and “Hello.”

8:56 p.m. — Darren Espanto wins Best WISHclusive Performance by a Young Artist for his cover of Fantasia’s “I Believe.” His chosen beneficiary, World Vision, will be granted with Php 100,000.

9:00 p.m. — “Thank you Dreamers!,” the ladies of 4th Impact exclaim as they bag the Best WISHclusive Performance by a Group or a Duo award for their cover of “Love the Way You Lie.” Php 100,000 will be given to their beneficiary, Anawim Lay Mission.

9:06 p.m. — Morissette’s cover of “Secret Love Song” is 2nd WMA’s Best WISHclusive Performance by a Female Artist. She is donating Php 100,000 to Meritxell Children’s World Foundation, Inc.

9:13 p.m. — Jason Dy receives another award — Best WISHclusive Performance by a Male Artist for his mash-up of Justin Bieber’s biggest hits. His beneficiary, Food for the Hungry Philippines, will receive Php 100,000.

9:15 p.m. — Morissette and Arnel Pineda win Best WISHclusive Collaboration! They will hand out Php 50,000 to each of their chosen beneficiaries.

9:20 p.m. — RnB royalties Jay R, Kris Lawrence, Jason Dy and Michael Pangilinan fire up the stage with a Bruno Mars medley!

9:32 p.m. — The Juans’ “Prom” is 2nd WMA’s Wish Original Song of the Year by a Group or a Duo. Their beneficiary, Real Life Foundation, will receive Php 100,000.

“This is a proof that dreams can come true,” vocalist Carl Guevarra says before the Araneta crowd.

9:39 p.m. — And the Wish Original Song of the Year by a Female Artist award goes to Morissette for “Throwback”! Her beneficiary Meritxell Children’s Word Foundation, Inc., will receive another Php 100,000.

9:43 p.m. — Darren Espanto bags another award for his song “7 Minutes” — Wish Original Song of the Year by a Male Artist. His beneficiary World Vision will be granted with another Php 100,000.

9:44 p.m. — #2ndWishMusicAwards tops the Philippines trends list!

9:48 p.m. — Sassa Dagdag, Zia Quizon and KZ Tandingan stun tonight’s crowd with a medley of “A Thousand Years,” “Only Exception” and “I Won’t Give Up.”

10:03 p.m. —  Darren Espanto wins the Wish Young Artist of the Year award! World Vision will receive another Php 100,000.

10:06 p.m. — And for her fourth award for the night, Morissette wins Wish Female Artist of the Year. She is donating Php 100,000 to Meritxell Children’s World Foundation, Inc.

10:12 p.m. — Two of the country’s finest talents, Morissette and Marcelito Pomoy, collaborate for a powerful duet of “Secret Love Song.”

10:23 p.m. — Morissette Amon​’s cover of “Secret Love Song” is the recipient of the first Wish Reactors’ Choice award.

“I’m just really grateful that I get to perform and sing my heart out.”

10:27 p.m. — A teary-eyed Morissette Amon​ accepts the WISHclusive Viral Video of the Year award — her sixth recognition for the night.

10:33 p.m. —  The 2nd WMA witnesses the birth of the WISHclusive Elite Circle, a group of artists with WISHclusive videos that garnered at least 10 million views. Its inaugural members include Bugoy Drilon, Darren Espanto and Morissette.
